Não Estou Sozinho (2016)
Depois do suicídio de meu pai em 2007, participei, por cerca de um ano, em Londres – onde vivia na época – das reuniões de um grupo de apoio para pessoas que perderam um familiar ou amigo por suicídio. Ouvir os participantes compartilharem suas experiências ajudou-me a colocar em perspectiva o que havia acontecido em minha vida e foi parte importante de meu processo de luto. Isto me fez convidar algumas das pessoas que conheci neste grupo para, juntos, criarmos o projeto Não Estou Sozinho.
O livro Não estou sozinho inclui as três séries do projeto – Vazio, Nós e Memória – e também a transcrição das falas dos participantes no vídeo O que você sente? Além disso, o livro abre com imagens e texto que fazem parte de outro trabalho sobre o tema do suicídio, chamado Voltando para casa.
O livro contém, também, três textos da curadora Galciane Neves, que dialogam com os trabalhos apresentados: Anotações para uma carta não enviada, Logo depois de pensar em des-criar o real e A imagem que seria imagem, mas o gesto diante da ausência.
Não estou sozinho fez parte da lista de melhores livros de 2016 da revista ZUM.
I Am Not Alone (2016)
After my father’s suicide in 2007, for about a year in London – where I was living at the time – I attended support group meetings for people who had lost a relative or friend by suicide. Listening to participants share their experiences helped me to put into perspective what had happened in my life and was an important part of my grieving process. This prompted me to invite some of the people I met in this group to together create the Not Alone project.
The book I am not alone includes the three series of the project – Emptiness, Us and Memory – and also the transcription of the speeches of the participants in the video What do you feel? In addition, the book opens with images and text that are part of another work on the theme of suicide, called Going Home.
The book also contains three texts by the curator Galciane Neves, which dialogue with the works presented: Annotations for an unsent letter, Soon after thinking about de-create the real and The image that would be image, the gesture in the face of absence.
